Video: Homeless Man Jumps White House Fence, Arrested

A 41-year-old homeless man jumped the fence of the White House on Tuesday, causing the Secret Service to approach him with rifles drawn. The man was then taken into Secret Service custody and a lockdown was ordered as a precaution. Prior to jumping the fence, he threw a backpack over the barricade, but it was not clear if there was anything in the backpack or if the man was a threat.

However, shortly after 9pm Washington, DC time, over an hour after the incident occurred, an all-clear directive was issued by the Secret Service. Crudup was taken to the local D.C. police station and will be charged with unlawful entry. In addition, he apparently violated a court order that prohibited him from getting close to the White House.

The incident was broadcast live on CNN’s John King, USA television program, where they showed footage of the incident play out, including the man getting detained and then taken off the north lawn. You can view the incident play out in real time in the embedded video below:
