TNT Cancels Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Hawthorne’

It has not been a good past few weeks for Jada Pinkett Smith. First, rumors about an alleged affair with Jennifer Lopez’s ex Marc Anthony exploded on the Internet, which caused Smith and her husband Will Smith to release an unprecedented statement through their reps denying the claims.

“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact,” the statement released last week read.

Now TNT has come to the decision not to renew the drama series Hawthorne, which Pinkett Smith and Anthony co-star in together.

A statement from the cable network said the following regarding the cancellation: “TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of Hawthorne. TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved in Hawthorne. The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show’s talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with Hawthorne nothing but the best.”

During the season finale last month, Hawthore drew about 3.6 million viewers with a 0.8 rating amongst adults 18-49. While its lead-in Memphis Beat drew the same demo, it had about 27% more viewers.

Compared to other TNT titans, however, Rizzoli & Isles and The Closer/i> almost tripled Hawthorne among total viewers.
