ABC was the network to beat in the ratings Monday with its three-hour block of reality shows The Bachelorette and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. The network drew 7.14 million viewers overall and a 2.3 rating amongst adults 18-49, which was ahead of second place FOX, with a 1.7 demo and 3.99 million viewers. CBS took a 1.2 demo with 4.85 million viewers, followed by NBC’s 1.1 demo and 4.93 million. The CW was last with a 0.3 demo and 650,000 viewers.
ABC was off by 4% in the demo and 5% in total viewers (7.49 million, 2.4) from two week’s ago when it aired the same original block. The network aired repeats last week due to the Independence Day holiday. The network was down, however, due to drops by Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. The Bachelorette was actually up in the ratings compared to two weeks ago — drawing 7.54 million and a 2.4 demo at 8PM and then increasing to 8.42 million and a 2.7 demo at 9PM. That was down less than 1% in total viewers, but up 2% in what really matters — the demo. Weight Loss Edition drew 5.45 million and a 1.9 demo, which was down 15% in viewers and 17% in the demo (two weeks ago 6.39 million, 2.3).
FOX went with a repeat of MasterChef (3 million, 1.2) and a new episode (4.99 million, 2.2). The viewers were in line with its new episode two weeks ago, but up 9% in the viewers (two weeks ago 5.02 million, 2.0). CBS decided to go with all reruns of its comedies and Hawaii Five-O, which drew as following: How I Met Your Mother (3.9 million, 1.2); Mike & Molly (8:30PM, 4.36 million, 1.2 demo); Two and a Half Men (5.74 million, 1.5); and Mike & Molly (9:30PM, 5.41 million, 1.3 demo). Hawaii Five-O drew 4.84 million and a 1.0 demo.
NBC decided to go with a rerun of America’s Got Talent (6.2 million, 1.5), a USA Network rerun of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (3.97 million, 0.8) and a new episode of Law & Order: LA (4.64 million, 1.0). Law & Order: LA, although canceled by the network, was down 34% from its new episode two weeks ago in the demo and down 28% in viewers (two weeks ago 6.4 million, 1.5). The CW decided to go with reruns of 90210 (770,000 viewers, 0.3) and Gossip Girl (530,000 viewers, 0.2).
