Ryan Dunn Dead: What Was Left Of His Car

Written by Michael Lambarde on Jun. 24, 2011

As noted previously, Jackass star Ryan Dunn, who came to fame between 2000-2003 during his hit MTV reality series, has died. Now, new photos are coming to light of the 2007 Porsche that Dunn was driving, apparently drunk after leaving a bar called Barnaby’s of America in Westchester with friends, as he raced down the Philadelphia streets at what is believed to be about 130mph. As he drove down the streets at freighting speeds with Zach Hartwell, a friend, his car would drive off the road, flip over a guardrail, and crash into the woods before bursting into flames.

According to Police Chief Mike Carroll, this was the worst accident he has ever seen in his career, and based on the photos that were obtained by TMZ as it was taken to the junk yard, you can see why. The photos also show the effect of what could potentially happen if you drink a “few” shots and beers at bar and then drive, possibly not only hurting yourself — as he did in this case — and others, too.

As for whether Barnaby’s of America in Pennsylvania will be charged for the accident of the former reality star, the Police Bureau’s Sgt. William La Torre told the Associated Press that the agency determined that Dunn was not visibly intoxicated when he was served two beers and six shots by bar employees over his four hour stay at the bar. Police later determined that Dunn’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he drove his 2007 Porsche off a road, flipped over a guardrail, and crashed into the woods.

The police went on to tell the AP that other friends and fans reportedly purchased Dunn roughly three drinks at the back table, out of the sight of the bartender shortly before he left the bar. MTV released a statement on the death of Dunn, a former star of their hit reality series and later movies, saying: “We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn – a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade,” Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Films Group said. “The Jackass brotherhood will never be the same.”
