Rolling Stone Editors Retracting Justin Bieber’s Abortion Stance

After 16-year-old Justin Bieber was asked by an editor of Rolling Stone his stance on abortion, many people were outraged at why they would ask such a young kid such a hot-button, not to mention controversial issue. Many said that he is only 16-years-old and when we were 16-years-old, we weren’t exactly thinking of such issues. Since the interview has come out, editors of the Rolling Stone are coming out to retract his statements, which were also controversial and have alienated some of his more liberal fan base.

In the interview, when he was asked his stance on abortion, he told Rolling Stone’s editor Vanessa Grigoriadis that abortion is “like killing a baby.” To follow-up, he was then asked if he believed in abortion for rape victims, and replied, “I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

Since then, a representative for the publication is saying that it was due to an “editing error,” and that the “story originally included an incomplete quote from Justin Bieber.” A rep for the publication likely had to make this statement because of outrage from the Justin Bieber camp that they would ask such a touchy question in the first place. Others are saying that is solely Justin Bieber’s fault as he didn’t have to answer the question in the first place.

A rep for the magazine is saying that this was Bieber’s actual response to the question, so take it as you will: “The full quote, his response to whether abortions should be allowed in cases of rape, reads, ‘Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”
