Chris Brown is trying to come back to the spotlight as of late after the controversy surrounding him stemming from 2009 when he domestically assaulted top music celebrity Rihanna. However, even though you’d think that she would not be coming to his defense after what she was put through, that is what she said during the recent edition of the Rolling Stone — including lifting her restraining order against him, simply because it was costing him professionally.
Why, you ask? Well, originally, Rihanna and Brown were not allowed to be within 100 feet from each other, and due to that, Brown was not allowed in the same venues that Rihanna was in because he would be disobeying the rules of the restraining order. “What he did to me was a personal thing. It had nothing to do with his career,” Rihanna said. “Saying [he can’t be at awards shows] definitely made it difficult for him.”
However, she clarified that even though her and Brown probably will never speak to each other again, she is not doing this because of a personal grudge, but because of professional reasons: “We don’t have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn’t want to make it more difficult for him professionally.”
