Report: Jennifer Lopez Returning To ‘American Idol’ — With 40% Salary Hike

According to reports, not only is Jennifer Lopez returning to FOX’s American Idol, but she is getting a 40% increase in her salary to boot. If the producers of Idol decided not to bring a fourth judge into the mix, that means that Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Steven Tyler will all be returning for the 11th season of the number one series on television.

Although sources close to Idol and the On The Floor hitmaker say that the deal for Lopez to return on the show is yet to be officially done, it is “finalized” and just awaiting Lopez to sign it. Lopez made a reported $12 million during her first season on the show, but the $20 million she will be making is still lower than what popular former Idol judge, Simon Cowell, was making during his final season on the show — $45 million.

However, as typical during these types of situations regarding contract re-signings where some sources are left out of the loop, another insider is denying that such a deal is in place, but several other sources insist that fans of Lopez will be happy to learn that she will indeed be sticking around.

Earlier this year, she told the BBC that she was still “on the fence” regarding a comeback on Idol. “I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening, and it’s going to come down to making a choice of really what I want to do for the next year,” Lopez said at the time. “We’re not really at the breaking point of ‘You have to make a decision right now!’ So I’m not. I’m really enjoying the time of just waiting — and seeing.”

Lopez, along with working on Idol is currently working on the upcoming comedy film What to Expect When You’re Expecting, set to be released in mid-2012, as well as the film Parker, currently in pre-production.
