Rebecca Black has been in the headlines over the past couple weeks as her song “Friday” went viral due to it being dubbed as the “worst song ever” due to the ridiculous lyrics. However, the 13-year-old has also been in the headlines over the past couple of days since she made an appearance on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show on Tuesday where she was shown visibly lip syncing.
After a cute interview with Leno, where she took in the criticism that her song has rightfully earned, as well as talking about the celebrities who have endorsed her, Leno asked her if she would sing the song. She did so and after she was given the mic, the lyrics of the song started blasting throughout the studio, well before she started singing, starting the controversy that she wasn’t singing the song at all (click here to view the video of her lip syncing).
Black has received over 35 million hits on Youtube stemming out of her song. Black is on her way to make big cash from the song. The LA Times reports that Black will receive about $25,00 per week from the songs she has sold via iTunes. Just over 40,000 downloads have been purchased from Apple, which she is set to earn about $0.70 per download, which is where she will be making her money from.
