Nancy Grace, who will be a part of the upcoming season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars told the network’s Good Morning America on Thursday that she got the call to be cast while she was drawing record ratings covering the Casey Anthony trial on CNN’s HLN.
The outspoken former prosecutor, who seems to be either loathed or adored by critics and her fans, respectfully, told GMA: “I was en route to the courtroom, in the car, and at first I thought I was getting punk’d,” she said when she received the call from the network.
In addition to covering the Anthony trial on HLN, she also often worked for ABC’s Good Morning America covering the month-long trial outside of the Orange County courthouse. Grace, who was criticized for being blatantly harsh on Anthony during much of her coverage, also admitted that she will be donating all the money she gets from the show to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children charity.
Grace will be partnering up with a professional dancer who will be making his debut on the hit reality series this upcoming season, Tristan McManus.
