As noted earlier here on Etidbits.com, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy is currently backstage at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida and expected to appear on camera during Genesis. Meanwhile, TNA is keeping news of Rob Van Dam’s mystery opponent at the pay-per-view event a secret as the board backstage listing tonight’s matches denotes a question mark.
However, as we reported earlier here on the website, former WWE Superstar Matt Hardy is backstage at the iMPACT! Zone in Orlando for tonight’s TNA Wrestling Genesis pay-per-view. The word backstage is that Matt Hardy will be appearing on camera and will be Jeff Hardy’s mystery opponent for Rob Van Dam in tonight’s main event. Matt Hardy was released from WWE back on November 15th and revealed in an interview with Fanhouse.com this week that his 90-day no compete clause went into effect two weeks before his WWE release was announced, allowing him to compete tonight in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
By joining TNA, this would likely mean that Matt Hardy would join TNA as a heel character and become a vital part of their ongoing Immortal storyline comprising of TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett and others. Matt Hardy’s debut in the company has been expected for a while since he asked his release from WWE.
