Maria Shriver is planning on divorcing her husband of 25 years, Arnold Schwarzenegger, but that doesn’t mean she is going very far. Shriver, who split from her husband after she found out that he had been unfaithful with her when he had an affair on her with their longtime housekeeper, is looking to buy a $10 million home in the Los Angeles district of Brentwood, which isn’t too far from the Schwarzenegger home.
But she is doing it on purpose, according to reports. While she is looking to move forward with her life without the former Governor of California, she wants her four kids to still spend time with their father. By having a home close to her husband, the feeling is that they would be able to spend time with both their father and mother. In the divorce filing, she filed for joint custody of their two minor boys, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. They also have two older girls, Katherine, 21, and, Christina, 19.
A source close to Shriver and Schwarzenegger reveals that Arnold knows the entire falling out of their marriage was his fault and as a result is being very generous when it comes to the divorce settlement. “This is going to be a very amicable divorce, and it won’t be played out in the media,” a source states. They add, “Neither one of them wants that. Arnold hasn’t lost his mind, he is going to be giving away his fortune to her. He wants to show his children that he is taking responsibility for his actions.”
