‘Glee’ Star Darren Criss To Replace Daniel Radcliffe In Broadway Play

It’s been highly speculated for a while now, but it is now official: Darren Criss of FOX’s Glee will be replacing Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame in the Broadway play How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He will take over the role Radcliffe’s J. Pierrepont Finch. The Glee star will step in as a replacement on January 3, 2012 once Radcliffe bows out of the play on January 1st.

Criss, who has dreamed about wanting to perform on Broadway, was the reason he was contacted to take on the role, according to director and choreographer Rob Ashford. “When we learned of Darren’s dream of performing on Broadway we knew we had found our Finch,” Ashford said. “But presumed his Glee schedule would eliminate any chance to work with him. We are ecstatic and grateful to Ryan Murphy and his Glee team at 20th Century Fox TV for helping to make both Darren’s and our dream come true.”

The play was nominated for eight Tony Awards after it opened in late March of this year at the Al Hirschfeld Theater in New York City.
