KISS frontman Gene Simmons and his girlfriend of nearly three decades, Shannon Tweed, are officially getting married! After Simmons proposed to Tweed during last season’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels on A&E, we now have the date the two will officially tie the knot: October 1st. According to reports, that will take place just three days before the seventh season of their reality series premieres, which will lead-up to showing footage of their wedding.
A person close to the couple confirmed the news on Thursday. “I am happy to confirm that Gene and Shannon will be getting married in the near future,” a spokesperson said. “Everything from choosing the flowers and wedding dress to the bachelor and bachelorette parties will unfold in the new season.”
True to the rather quirky personality of Simmons, the ivory-colored wedding invitations noted that the event will be have a “classy cocktail attire” dress code, with a smaller font underneath joking, “although we know some Rockstar attire will be worn.”
The invitation also featured a stenciled portrait of the family drawn by the couple’s 22-year-old son, Nick, and a poem written by their 19-year-old daughter, Sophie.
“After 28 years of loose strings, our parents have finally decided to tie the knot.” Sophie wrote in announcement section’s poem. “Our mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our father’s life … well, it doesn’t change that much.” In the end, she notes, “As annoyingly long as that is, We hope you’re on it.”
