Rebecca Black — who has generated about 68 million views for “Friday,” which was labeled by many of its critics as the “worst song ever”, just received more criticism from former Disney star Miley Cyrus. Although the mainstream celebrities have been generous to Black — including Ryan Seacrest, Lady Gaga and Simon Cowell, to name a few — Cyrus is not one of those names.
When she spoke to the Daily Telegraph based in Australia, she bashed the 13-year-old for becoming a hit sensation on Youtube by simply throwing a song on the website and getting signed to a contract by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. “It should be harder to be an artist,” Cyrus explained. “You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.”
Does Cyrus have a point here? It’s not like any person that throws a song out on Youtube gets the major mainstream attention that Black has received, as Cyrus tries to point out. Black is really untested and should be given a chance to see if she will be able to handle the pressure of other celebrities like Cyrus successfully has in the past.
