Pia Toscana, 22, who shocked viewers of American Idol by exiting the season early, has moved on past the reality competition series and has signed on with Interscope Records, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. Toscana, despite being a favorite on Idol, was eliminated in the early goings of the final round, only scoring 9th place.
Interscope revealed that Toscana will release her first album later this year, but will be first releasing the acoustic guitar and beat-driven track This Time this Tuesday (July 13). About signing with Interscope, Toscana said that the signing was a “dream come true”. Talking about the upcoming release of This Time Toscana said the following: “It’s about growing into being a woman, being independent. It can apply to so much, whether it’s me on American Idol or being in a relationship…I love this song. I have so much fun singing it — it’s so catchy.”
