Simon Cowell will be making his network television debut in just six short months with the new FOX reality series, The X-Factor. According to sources close to Deadline, there is now talk that Cowell may be taking a gamble with the United States version of the show by having Enrique Iglesias host the show, and has reportedly already had talks with Cowell about doing the show. That’s right, now be a judge on the show or perform on the show, but be X-Factor’s version of American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest.
The article goes on to state that Iglesias has interest in being part of the show, but has mixed feelings about being the host of the show, but is more open about being one of the judges. As for Iglesias, he has recently been in the music mix with “I Like It”and “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” both reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
With Iglesias on such a streak and is clearly not done focusing on music, it should be interesting if he accepts Cowell’s alleged offer to host the show, and if not, being a judge on the series. Iglesias surely would certainly be a different “get” for Cowell than a host-type name that have been hosting different reality series over the past few years.
The series is getting a lot of press as of late by FOX. Many people are expecting it to be FOX’s version of American Idol during the fall, and then they could then have two hit reality series rotating during the most pivotal times of the year for the broadcast networks. Big names such as former Idol judge Paula Abdul, Cheryl Cole (host of the UK version of the show), Mariah Carey and others have all been reportedly contacted to be part of the show.
