During the season finale of FOX’s American Idol on Wednesday, winner of season nine, Lee DeWyze, did not appear on the show, which somehow got people talking that he didn’t appear on the show which didn’t seem like an issue at first, but then Idol‘s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, sent a tweet on Twitter that had the Internet talking.

“I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winners trophy to Scotty. Especially as he’s been on the show this season. I guess he was shy,” Lythgoe posted on Twitter after the show. DeWyze, however, is claiming that he was invited to appear on the stage after the winner was crowned, but didn’t want to appear on the stage to steal the moment from McCreery. He also says that he was never told to give the winner the trophy. Lythgoe claims that DeWyze was informed a week in advance that he would be giving the trophy to the winner of the competition, but decided not to.
