Chord Overstreet is leaving Glee. Overstreet, 22, who started working on the hit FOX series in a recurring role, later became a prominent fixture on the young-skewing television series during its second season. He played the character Sam Evans, a transfer student, on the high school based musical dramedy. While he won’t be returning full-time on the series next year, reports suggest that he may be brought in a guest-starring role in the future.

Commenting on the news that he has been dropped from the series, he tweeted, “Well, its been a good year too bad its over, time for summer and starting fresh.”.

Many are suggesting that Overstreet’s exit from the series is a sign of things to come in the future. Creator of the series, Ryan Murphy, has dropped hints as of late that a new cast will be brought in once the current crop of stars on the series graduate from high school. However, that isn’t set in stone, and depending on the feedback that he receives from the network and its fanbase, he could easily go the Beverly Hills 90210 route of having the current stars go on to college. Fans of Overstreet have already taken to Twitter and Facebook to express their frustrations with him exiting the series.
