Japan was rocked with an enormous 8.9 level earthquake on the Richter scale while most in the United States were sleeping. It occurred just after 1AM EST time. It was, of course, followed up by an enormous tsunami wave. Celebrities took to their Twitter accounts late last night and earlier today to give their prayers and thoughts with the Japanese as hundreds have reportedly been casualities of the history-making tsunami.

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who is currently vacationing on the French Polynesian in the Pacific Ocean — which was also rocked by tsunami caused by the earthquake — posted the following Tweets on Twitter today: “Suddenly, relaxing on an island in the South Pacific isn’t so relaxing anymore. Good thing I brought my aqua stilts.” He added, “I am on an island in French Polynesia, glued to CNN.” Kimmel’s show is currently airing repeats on ABC this week.

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert posted the following: “My thoughts and energy are towards Japan.” Reality television star Kim Kardashian posted this: “Just heard about the huge earthquake and tsunami in Japan. My prayers are with everyone in Japan!”
