Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told reporters that there are pictures of a ‘person of interest’ in his office who is believed to be none other than the Arizona shooter. He went on to say that the 22-year-old suspect, Jared Lee Loughner indeed has a criminal background. However, the County Sheriff could not say anything more on the matter. The sheriff went on to say that Jared Lee Loughner has been suffering from ‘mental issues’ which must have driven him into such an act. Going by Jared Lee Loughner’s page on MySpace, it says that he is an avid reader, apart from many of his other hobbies. Caitie Parker, one of the acquaintances of Jared Lee Loughner said that once when he met Gabrielle Gifford in 2007, he referred to her as “stupid and unintelligent”. Some of his videos on YouTube reveal a mix of his “delusional rants and harrowing warnings”. There are also videos where he is shown to burn the flag of the country.

Officials believe that the videos and the reports indicate that Jared Lee Loughner might be suffering from a mental illness which propelled him to carry out Saturday’s heinous act. At present, he is in police custody and investigations are going on to find out whether he has other cases on his name.
