Anthony Bourdain Criticizes Paula Deen’s Food, She Fires Back

Written by Jessica Smith on Aug. 20, 2011

Popular southern chef Paula Deen says she was “surprised” by some of the things that No Reservations host Anthony Bourdain recently said about her to TV Guide.

“She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations and she’s proud of the fact that her food is f—ing bad for you. If I were on at seven at night and loved by millions of people at every age, I would think twice before telling an already obese nation that it’s OK to eat food that is killing us. Plus, her food sucks.”

Deen initially told FOX’s Fox and Friends on Friday that she was “actually kinda shocked, considering I have never met Anthony. I was really shocked that such harsh words could be used.” She speculated that it may have been some sort of publicity stunt. “I don’t know if it was a publicity thing or if someone had just peed in his bowl of cereal that morning and he was mad,” she said.

But that was just the beginning.

The 55-year-old Bourdain took to his Twitter accounts to bash Deen further. “I love red beans and rice. Do I need it between pancakes,” one tweet read. He also attacked other Food Network stars, such as Rachel Ray, Sandra Lee, and Guy Fieri. On Ray, he said, “does she even cook anymore?” He also noted that he dislikes Lee’s “works on this planet” and that about Fieri, “I’m glad that not’s me”.

The popular Food Network star then did an interview with Page Six of the New York Post.

“You don’t have to like my food, or Rachael [Ray]’s, Sandra [Lee]’s and Guy [Fieri]’s. But it’s another thing to attack our character,” Deen said. “I wake up every morning happy for where I am in life. It’s not all about the cooking, but the fact that I can contribute by using my influence to help people all over the country.”

“In the last two years, my partners and I have fed more than 10 million hungry people by bringing meat to food banks. My good friends Rachael, Guy and Sandra are the most generous charitable folks I know. They give so much of their time and money to help the food-deprived, sick children and abandoned animals. I have no idea what Anthony has done to contribute besides being irritable.”

I completely agree with Anthony, these folks are Con-agra chefs, you can make dog poop taste good with enough bacon and butter, wheres the LUV.

I too agree with Bourdain, Paula deep fries everything, Rachel is NOT a chef and yells when she talks, Guy wouldn’t know good food if it bit him in the rear end.  I will not comment on Sandra because I have never heard of her much less seen her show.  Does she have a show?

Bourdain is just jelous because he had never reached the star power of Paula, Rachel, Sandra or Guy. He is just a bitter man who has nothing better to do than to disrespect people who actually have tallent.

Bourdain looks like he stinks to high heaven. This is clearly a case of the pot calling the kettle ‘beige’.

Oh my goodness! Just when I thought that I’d been irritated by every possible antisocial miscreant alive, Bourdain comes along to give me a new name on my list of pretentious idiots! I love Paula, Rachael, and anyone else Bourdain has issues with. Plus, he’s irritating, so I do NOT watch him.

Bourdain is just speaking the truth it hurts for this people because they know he is right we need more people like tony to speak the truth about this clowns fake “chefs” yeah right.

I don’t watch her show anymore. She got rediculous when she deep fried cheesecake. She goes off the deep end when she uses butter. She thinks a tablespoon of butter is half a stick. Ugh.

Anthony Bourdain is a hypocrite! I watch his show and I am also a fan of Paula Deen. I agree she can be over the top, but it is entertainment. Just like his many televised alcohol and almost-illegal drug-induced benders on “No Reservations”. He smokes and drinks like a fish. If he has liver failure or lung cancer in the future, should we attack him?
