Just days before Amy Winehouse died at the age of just 27-years-old, she reportedly tried to reach out to a celebrity doctor to get help. That doctor was celebrity Dr. Drew Pinsky, who said that he never picked up the phone when he was receiving the calls. During a broadcast on the Kevin & Bean Show on Friday, Pinsky revealed that he was receiving “mysterious” calls from Europe but never picked up the phone. “I found out also yesterday that believe it or not she was trying to contact me which was weird,” he said on the broadcast on KROQ. He added, “Janice Dickenson told me that. I remember getting calls from Europe and thinking ‘what the hell is this?’”
Of course, this fueled anger from fans of Amy Winehouse as she could have possibly been reaching out to him to get help just days before she died just one week ago, June 23, 2011. Members of Winehouse’s family are now claiming that Winehouse may have passed away because she reportedly just recently stopped drinking alcohol. They claim that Winehouse’s body could have been “shocked” because of going cold turkey two weeks before she passed away.
A member of Winehouse’s family told People that Winehouse’s father, Mitch, told doctors shortly after her death she the doctors told his daughter to reduce her alcohol consumption, but Winehouse refused to do that and just went cold turkey. “It was all or nothing, and she gave up completely,” the source insisted. They added, “Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take.”
