Saturday Night Live alum as well as star of NBC’s 30 Rock, Tina Fey, gave birth to her second child on Wednesday! Fey and her composer husband, Jeffrey Richmond, gave birth to their second girl, whom they named Penelope Athena.
The news was confirmed by Fey’s rep on Friday through People. The new baby joins the couple’s other child, Alice, who was born in September 2005.
“My husband and I really decided that we felt rather than risk having 30 Rock end in several years and feeling like part of our family is missing that we were going to prioritize our family,” Fey told Oprah Winfrey in April about deciding to have another child.
In her book Bossypants, the 41-year-old revealed that she wanted to not find out about the sex of the child until it was born. Shortly after it was released, she told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that the pregnancy the second time around was “easy” compared to the first.. She joked, “I’m just going to see what it chooses to wear to prom,” regarding the baby’s sex.
If you thought the name Penelope Athena sounded somewhat familiar, it is. E! reports that the name comes from Greek mythology: Penelope was Odysseus’s wife, and Athena was the daughter of Zeus.
