Last night, ABC aired the most-watched awards ceremony of the year, the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. While many movie buffs look to see who will snag the prized Oscar awards, others look towards the stars to see who wears what and whether they deserve to be in the “best dressed” or the “worst dressed” category, if any. Last night was no different as the celebrities donned dazzling dresses on the red carpet.
This year, deep violets and fiery reds seemed to be the theme, brought to you by such actresses as Natalie Portman and Sandra Bullock. Natalie Portman, who was an Oscar nominee, absolutely glowed, and was not afraid to show her pregnancy bump, yet she was stunning in a billowing silk chiffon dress of deep purple which draped off the shoulder and was embedded with sequin details. Her gown was created by the costumers for the movie which she was nominated for, ‘Black Swan’. She accessorized with a pair of Tiffany & Co. tassel earrings.
Portman’s co-star from Black Swan also wore purple. Mila Kunis’s lavender, silk and lace organza gown was from Elie Saab’s Haute Couture collection for spring of 2011. Amy Adam, who also wore a purple shade, looked glamorous in a deep purple gown with very sparkling sleeves which was made by L ‘Wren Scott.
As the Oscar host, Anne Hathaway hit the Red Carpet, she was on fire in a large bustled strapless red gown full of ruffles, while Jennifer Lawrence from ‘Winter’s Bone’ rocked the runway in a close fitting red dress which was made by Calvin Klein.
Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Hudson also were “ladies in red”, as was new mom Penelope Cruz. Sandra’s dress was a strapless version by Vera Wang, Jennifer’s tangerine-red gown was from Versace, and Penelope was gorgeous in a beaded gown by L ‘Wren Scott. It was a night of glitz and glamor with everyone full of smiles and hope… to see who would win an Oscar at the 83rd annual Oscar Awards.
